SSSD Receives TJ Sisto Award for Supporting Student Well-Being

Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD) received the TJ Sisto Award from Brighter World Child Advocacy Center. The award recognizes SSSD’s commitment to trauma-informed practices, mental health support, and the overall well-being of children in the community. Shelby DeWolfe, SSSD’s Mental and Behavioral Health and Restorative Practices Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the district at Brighter World’s annual fundraiser and awards ceremony earlier this week. 

The award honors the legacy of TJ Sisto, a longtime member of the Routt County Sheriff’s Office and a dedicated advocate for children and victims. He is remembered for approaching his work with compassion, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to helping children and families.

Supporting students and families requires strong collaboration across the community. SSSD is grateful to partner with Brighter World and the many local organizations, agencies, mental health professionals, and law enforcement partners who help ensure children receive the care and support they need. This recognition reflects the collective work of these partners as much as the work taking place within district schools.
